Lady Antebellum: Golden

COUNTRY trio Lady Antebellum’s fifth album is a highly polished, commercial arrow aimed straight for the pop charts.
A pretty successful one at that, entering the UK charts at number 7 on Sunday.
It’s slick, possibly cynical, nostalgic and enormously sentimental. But do you know what? It doesn’t matter.
It’s brimful of fantastic tunes and Goodbye Town, out this week, is just one of any number of songs which could have been chosen as the follow-up to opening single Downtown (no, not the Petula Clark one).
The whole album is firmly Shania Twain territory and it will not challenge you in any way – but it’s as easy as anything to listen to and it may cheer you up while it’s on. Who could ask for more?
