IF his solo debut is anything to go by, ex-Doves frontman Jimi Goodwin is a rum old cove.
The titles alone are head-scratchers (Terracotta Warrior, Man v Dingo) and while half the tracks here are more than a little pretentious to these ears at least in their amalgamation of psychedelia, dance and rock, some sound like the Pogues fronted by Joe Strummer.
He’s at his best on the bluesy, folkier numbers, and his collaboration with Elbow’s Guy Garvey, Hope, reminds you that this is the man partially responsible for Pounding, one of the greatest songs of the noughties.
