Liars: Mess

liars

THE seventh album from New York trio Liars is the kind of record you can imagine being nominated for the Mercury Music Prize but not having a hope of winning.
It’s achingly hip, issued on the eternally cool Mute label and is brimful of fierce electronic punk.
They’re at their most commercial on Can’t Hear Well and the dancefloor-rooted Mess on a Mission; the rest is pretty much perfect in terms of listenable electronic noise but anyone finding those two too much to cope with should steer well clear.
