THERE’S nothing new or extraordinarily original about the debut album for American five-piece Horse Thief – currently touring with the Bella Union labelmates Midlake.
Fitting neatly into the rapidly burgeoning market for early REM-cum-Americana, it’s a pleasing listen.
The Tom Petty-isms of single Devil and Dead Drum are easily the most commercial tracks, but the rest stands up too. One to watch.
