The former Pretender’s first solo album – although you could argue a case for every Pretenders album since 1982 being a Hynde solo effort – is far better than it has any right to be.
Hynde’s voice is still strong, sultry and sexy and there’s nary a duff track on Stockholm. Some of it is too Radio 2 friendly and could almost be Texas but overall it’s a worthy addition to the 62-year-old’s canon.
