Rumer, Into Colour

Rumer, Into Colour

Rumer’s vocal similarity to the late, great Karen Carpenter has been talked about so many times that it has become something of a faux pas for serious music critics.

Fact is, though, the Pakistan-born singer-songwriter (real name Sarah Joyce) could not sound more like the tragic singer if she tried – and that goes for much of the music on Into Colour too.

Single Dangerous and potential follow-up Play Your Guitar stand out in their willingness to shake a tail feather but Sam, You Just Don’t Know People and  Baby Come Back To Bed will have fans of the MOR duo in hog heaven.

Crucially, it’s all executed magnificently and the tunes – always the key element when it comes down to it – are hard to fault.
