The Leisure Society, The Fine Art of Hanging On

The fourth outing by former Telescopes guitarist Nick Hemming is a splendid, if somewhat low-key, adventure in electronic easy listening and folk-tinged pop on the musical side.

Lyrically it’s a different affair with many of the songs dealing with the death of one of Hemmings’ friends from cancer.

It’s pop in the NME rather than the Taylor Swift sense. One for the hipsters.

Like this? Try these: Dan Croll, Sweet Disarray; Sufjan Stevens, Carrie and Lowell
